Introducing IIS 7.0 and IIS 7.5  
Microsoft introduced IIS 7.0 as part of Windows Server 2008 release. Windows Server 2008 has IIS 7.0 as it’s built in Web server. IIS 7.0 is designed as secure, easy to manage web server which allows web application developers to develop and host web application and services.

Its main difference than compared to predecessors is modular architecture which makes developing and deployment efficient and effective. IIS 7.0 is designed keeping development community in mind and as such provide myriad of ways to configure and develop against it.

IIS 7.0 and IIS 7.5 follow new model when it comes to administration. It relays on XML based configuration files just like ASP.NET web applications. In addition, IIS 7.0 provides extensible architecture which enables admins and developers alike to build and deploy highly customized and specialized applications.
