IIS Feature Delegation
IIS administrators usually assign minimum rights for developers to use IIS in their development work. Developers often time restricted as to how much configuration and management they can perform on IIS. In order to elevate this problem, Microsoft introduced new feature called "Feature Delegation". It helps administrators to assign certain rights to certain sites to be managed by someone other than IIS administrator.

For example, web developer wants to create custom error page for the site. In the restricted environment, it is not possible. However, IIS admin can delegate this particular function to the site owner and then IIS developer can perform required task.

Let us take a closer look at how this delegation happen within IIS.

1. Start up IIS Manager and navigate to the Feature Delegation modile. see pic 1.
